When launching an event for your business your event marketing plan should be designed to increase your profits. Many business owners are only utilizing social media and a vast majority aren’t leveraging social media properly. Having the right tools when planning your event makes a huge difference when determining the amount of people you are able to reach and impact. One of the main goals when hosting events is actually getting people to attend.

So let’s talk about one tool you need that can help increase ticket sales for your next event.

A website!

I know this sounds pretty simple, but it is very important. A lot of entrepreneurs and business owners are hosting events and they don’t even have a website for their event. If you have a business I’m sure you have a website so if you are hosting events for your business the event needs a website as well.

Online event marketing tools such as EventBrite are great for driving traffic to your event and increasing your ticket sales, but in addition to these platforms, you also need your own website.

You have two options. You can create a landing page on your current website for your event or you can create a separate website specifically for your event. A separate website is perfect for recurring events such as a conference, retreat, or dinner party series.

Importance of having an event website…

  1. Your website serves as the go to resource for your event.

Creating a website specifically for your event will not only allow your event to stand out, but it can be utilized as the go-to resource for your event. Your event website should be able to answer all questions that your attendees and potential attendees may have. This will also limit the number of questions you will have to answer and prevent you from answering a ton of emails, comments, and DMs from people asking the same questions. Whenever someone has a question you can simply refer them to your site.

Less stress, work and worry for you.

2. Your website can increase your ticket sales

Having an event website can increase your ticket sales if you set your site up properly. When potential attendees visit your event website it should be an experience for them. It should increase their desire to want to attend your event. Your website should be the selling point for your event. We’ll get to how to do this in a second.

3. Your website helps to better brand your event

It also shows that you took the time to invest in your event. This is especially important with premium events. If you’re hosting events that cost hundreds and thousands of dollars you definitely need an event website. Your site will help increase your credibility and give you the opportunity to display how valuable your event is.

Take some time to brainstorm the vision for your event website. Don’t just throw up a website because that alone can affect your ticket sales.

Make sure your website is easy to navigate

Your website needs to be mobile-friendly and functional. I’ve clicked on links to several events from my iPhone and it was very difficult to navigate because they weren’t mobile-friendly. Nobody has time to keep zooming and stretching their screen to give you their money. Once people get to your site your goal is for them to purchase a ticket to your event and if they have to spend unnecessary time adjusting your site for their viewing they will get annoyed and exit your site very quickly. Resulting in loss of ticket sales. Everyone should be able to navigate and checkout with ease.

When creating content for your event website it is very important that you include key information that will help you sell out your event.

Here’s what to include on your website:

  • Event Title
  • Date
  • Time
  • Location
  • Venue
  • Purpose of the Event
  • What Attendees Can Expect
  • Target Audience
  • Event Bio
  • Your Bio
  • Speakers
  • Speakers Bio + Contact Information
  • Testimonials
  • Photos of Past Events
  • Registration Details
  • Ticket Prices + Ticket Levels
  • Refund Policy
  • Agenda
  • FAQ
  • Lodging Information (for out of state guests)
  • Venue Parking Details
  • Dress Code
  • Vendor Information
  • Sponsorship Details
  • Media Kit + Contact
